Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term coach his previous coach.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from March of that year.
The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.
However the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a close third set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
